Logos Visit

Come to Carisbrook as individual visitors, or as an organised group.

Your visit transports you back to life as you would have lived it one hundred and thirty years ago. The house is furnished as it would have been when the original owners, the Brooks family, moved into their new house. Wander through the rooms and experience the lifestyle of the Brooks—each room embellished with the trivia of daily family life in that era.

The Exhibition Room provides introductory videos telling the story of the Brooks family and the Carisbrook Estate. Here the Lane Cove Historical Society Inc. displays some of the extensive Carisbrook Collection covering the broader history of Lane Cove life.

INDIVIDUAL VISITS:

Changes to opening hours

Carisbrook will change its opening hours. In a twelve month trial, the third weekend each month will be an ‘Open Weekend’ offering a relaxing, heritage escape from the modern weekend-rush.

Along with a tour of the house, visitors can relax in the garden and indulge in a Devonshire tea, or have coffee and a range of Victorian-style cakes in our sunny courtyard. Each month we also hope to focus on a different aspect of the 19th century.

The next open weekend will be 16-17 November from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

We hope you will be able to enjoy more time in Carisbrook’s sunny courtyard and outer gardens by offering coffee, tea, cakes and Devonshire teas.

Kellyville Baptist Care Social Group had a lovely time at Carisbrook today Wednesday, May 29th. After viewing the video outlining the life and times of the Brooks Family they were guided through the rooms of Carisbrook.

This week we welcomed the most delightful students of  Mowbray Public School (Years 1 & 2). Judging by their thoughtful comments and questions they learned a lot about living in the 1880s.

It was such a pleasure welcoming the folks from Willoughby to Carisbrook yesterday for a tour of the house and gardens.

Carisbrook House welcomed the lovely Stage 1 students from Mowbray Public School. One enthusiastic Year 2 student declared it was the best history lesson ever! Who knew history could be so much fun!

Monday 5th June we welcomed our neighbours from across the river…

May 23 2017  – Dear Robyn – Thank you and your colleagues (friendly, hard-working volunteers) for a lovely visit to Carisbrook and for the photos. The Ladybirds thoroughly enjoyed hearing the history of the house and area; a lovely lunch in a beautiful setting and perfect autumn weather. I know many of the Ladybirds will be checking out your website and will be returning for special functions throughout the year. Please also thank Terry for showing me around the garden a few weeks ago. Gardens are my weakness – can never see enough of them! Many thanks. Maureen.    The Ladybirds pictured below
