Wal Walter will draw on his recent book “The Squatters’ Grab” in which he describes the ways colonial administrations in New South Wales distributed land in the nineteenth century.
The process led to the ascendancy of the squatters and the dispossession of the Aboriginal people. Wal argues that the colonial administrations functioned in such a way that the Aboriginal people suffered well into the twentieth century because of their dispossession.
Wal Walter is an economist with a longstanding interest in the history of Aboriginal people in NSW and Queensland. He will bring copies of his book to sell.
