Kay Leiper and Margaret Bergomi will report on their research into Lane Cove House and its surrounds.

Until this new research was carried out, Lane Cove House in Myee Crescent Lane Cove West and its original surrounding land had not been fully investigated from an architectural and historical point of view. In some ways both Lane Cove House and Carisbrook Historic House resemble each other, so one motive for the research was to investigate the possibility that we could find clues about who designed and built Carisbrook. Margaret Bergomi, a retired architect and heritage planner, is currently on the LCHS Committee as is Dr. Kay Leiper.

What they found was a very different story. Within the walls was a past filled with love, hopes, hate, horror and redemption. This house on the riverfront at Lane Cove West has a story that spans the isolated and sometimes tragic pioneering beginnings of the suburb to a large medical facility that tested the mental health controversies of the twentieth century.
